Welcome to Growing God's Way Christian Preschool and Child Care
Our Program

IN CHRISTIAN SERVICE TO THE VIRGINIA PENINSULA SINCE 1987
GROWING GOD'S WAY Christian Preschool and Child Care is an exemplary preschool and full-time child care ministry for children ages 6 weeks to kindergarten. The mission of our year-round program, in conjunction with our Biblical responsibility and obligation to God's children to lay the foundations for their Christian growth and development, is to prepare students for kindergarten. Our curriculum includes Bible verses and lessons, hands-on experiences in creative arts, language arts, music and movement, premath, science, and social growth. In addition to our Christian curriculum, our students have opportunities to use the computer to develop mouse and keyboard skills while expanding their knowledge with our many early childhood computer learning activities. Weekly, our students also participate in physical education and music exploration. Daily recess allows our students to run, climb, swing, and play on our numerous pieces of equipment in our half-acre yard. For the safety of our younger students, we have a separate, fenced playground for our infants and toddlers.
DURING OUR SUMMER PROGRAM...our students participate in our "Sizzlin' Summer Story Sensations" Summer Reading Program. This is a theme-based curriculum in which the students and parents read library books together each week, based on our summer themes. They then make a picture book report which is submitted each Friday. At the end of the summer, students receive an award based on their level of participation. Summer activities also include many field trips, swimming on a regular basis and introducing students to outdoor sports such as soccer and T-ball.
INFANT AND TODDLER CLASSES...
The care in our infant and toddler classes is more "family" style. Our youngest students are held, listen to songs and stories,in an atmosphere similar to home. Breastfeeding Moms can come to nurse their babies and may use our hospital grade pump while at GGW (Moms need to bring their own shields and tubing for health reasons). Students in our toddler class have learning activities to prepare them for our preschool class. Their activities include learning simple Bible songs, nursery rhymes, stories, music, art, working on basic skills such as colors and shapes, some seasonal activities, and outdoor play. Socially, our toddlers work on controlling temper tantrums, sharing, taking turns, and potty-training.
OUR STAFF...
GROWING GOD'S WAY Christian Preschool and Child Care is owned and directed by Mrs. Sharon Hart. Mrs. Hart holds a B.S. degree in Christian Elementary Education and has an additional 2 years in Early Childhood Education. She also has Special Education background in working with ADD/ADHD students. In addition to being the director at GGW, Mrs. Hart is the teacher of our 3 and 4 year old preschool class. The teachers at GGW have Early Childhood background, participate in continuing education and training in the Early Childhood field and are certified in CPR and pediatric first aid. Child abuse registry and criminal history background checks as well as drug screenings are made on all staff members prior to employment, as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
COMMENTS FROM OUR PARENTS...
Our children have attended Growing God's Way Christian Preschool and Child Care since 1994. Our oldest daughter graduated from GGW in 1995. Our oldest son attended GGW from the time he was 18 months old until he graduated in 2005. Our youngest son attended from the time he was born until he graduated in 2008. Mrs. Hart is a loving teacher who is committed to her students-and their families. We have never seen a program like she offers her students and all she does for them, any where else.

I cannot begin to express how happy I am with Growing God's Way Christian Preschool. Mrs. Hart is the teacher of my sons. She only accepts up to 6 children at a time in the preschool class, which gives the kids such great teacher/child ratios. She conducts school out of her home, but has got to be the most organized, creative, and caring preschool teacher ever. My son was reading before he turned five. My younger son, who joined the preschool class this past summer is loving every minute of it. If you are looking for the most awesome preschool around, please call and make an appointment to meet Mrs. Hart and see all she does. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Mrs. Hart is the best teacher my children could ever have. Two of my children currently enrolled have learning and developmental disabilities. Mrs. Hart works with me to help develop learning plans to meet their needs. Though they could get free services in public school, I know they would not get the loving, individualized education and care Mrs. Hart provides. My oldest son also graduated from GGW and in first grade, was reading at a sixth grade level. Now in fifth grade he continues to excel and remain on honor roll.
Mrs. J.L. Gagnon-Wenzel
Words cannot describe Mrs. Hart and her preschool. My son, who now is 12, was born with cerebral palsey. Even though he was in the toddler class (Mrs. Hart was my daughter's preschool class teacher), Mrs. Hart was instrumental in getting me in contact with legal services to help with the insurmountable medical bills I was overwhelmed with due to his condition. Not only is she a loving teacher and director, she has a wealth of knowledge in all areas related to children and their total needs. If she doesn't know about something, she will research it until she knows all she can about something. I do not know where my children and I would be today if it were not for her.
